What is the truth about obesity care and what can we learn from the obesity bill of rights? Weight bias is real in healthcare settings and negatively impacts health outcomes for people living with obesity. A call to action for change throughout the healthcare system that will result in people with obesity getting respectful and nondiscriminatory care from medical professionals, and insurance that provides access to all treatments deemed appropriate by their health providers. There is no “one size fits all approach.” People are unique so treatment must be also. Join us in expanding our knowledge of adequate care and comprehensive treatment requirements. Access to medication, lifestyle change programs, behavioral approaches, and access to healthy foods is critical for people living with obesity. We all have a right to unbiased, person-centered care.
